mario tudor

Mario I Tudor was born in Gorizia (Trieste, Italia) in 1932. Painter, engraver, graphic designer, he has been exhibiting since 1950. In 1975 he got into Fiber Art. Since 1959 he lives in Milan. Of him the critic Angelo Bertani has written: ''Those of Tudor's are objects to preserve dreams, memories, feelings. Sometimes they morph into allusive forms, but, to tell the truth, they are textile architectures, open and free, that welcome flowing traces of life. The suggestions from nature, history and culture define the shape, always mellow and pliant. Obvious is the link with Venetian tradition; but for Tudor, Venice is not a closed place, it's an haven where a number of suggestions that may be re-discovered in an authentic manner, have arrived: first of all, those coming from the fabulous Byzantine, Anatolian, Caucasian Orient, from the mythical silk road; and then from the unknown sea, sailed long time ago by merchants explorers, and by the very idea of travel that they claim. And in Odysseus' sea, life, Tudor casts his nets to set sail with arcane and seducing, light and fertile signs: signs that he then plants, like seeds, in everyone of his works, in every new island he lands at.''
