marco ferreri

It's not so difficult to write about someone with a rich personality, full of humour, someone that with a childish freshness observes and retells the world. There aren't many persons in the world that have had a chance to preserve this attitude, Marco Ferreri is one of the few. Architect, designer, born on February 26th, 1958 at Imperia, in Italy. He attended the Faculty of Architecture at the Polytechnic in Milan, where since 1984 he has a studio. The columns of San Lorenzo are in front of the entrance of the studio, a mine of ideas is inside it. It's a place full of objects, pieces of undefined things, prototypes, various materials, models, books. You may define him a restless researcher. Observes everything and every phenomenon, trying to reach its very essence. This is very important in every creative field, especially those meant to serve others. Marco Ferreri consults for many Italian and foreign firms, his works are exhibited by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, at the permanent collection in Jerusalem. In his works, the function is what matters. Everything functional, in his projects is also poetic. For Marco Ferreri, nature is an unending source of inspiration. This has also happened about non natural materials. Many of his projects don't end at the moment of production, or of purchase. He leaves the customer the freedom to use them and build them. Thanks to all this, everyone of us may take part in his project. In his projects there is a great care for details, with a immense respect for the shape and the user. The search for perfection needs many attempts being convinced that it's within ourselves that lies the perfection and it only needs to be brought to light. After trying, we can all be convinced that it's the simplest things which can be very difficult to design. Marco Ferreri is the designer that is not only thinking about the aesthetic of an object: he wonders about it's function, it's meaning and it's ''life''. Designer, that with his global vision, treats his work and considers his profession with great attention, not to create items that ignore the sorrounding environment. I hope that when I will meet Marco Ferreri in thirty years, I will still be able to say: ''He is no longer young, but he is still searching''
